Building Innovation is committed to promoting the principles of energy efficiency. Our projects explore how we can minimize energy consumption, optimize energy use, and encourage sustainable energy practices. Our goal is to enable the construction industry to improve the energy performance of buildings, freeing up power for other industries.
See our projects below.
Our Energy Resource Group is the driving force behind our initiatives. The group comprises industry leaders who are deeply committed to the principles of energy mapping and optimization.
The Resource Group is responsible for guiding the cluster's initiatives to achieve energy efficiency, minimize consumption, optimize energy use, and promote sustainable energy practices. They provide strategic direction, monitor project implementation, and ensure that our actions align with our sustainability goals.
At Building Innovation, we work to highlight solutions that make the construction and real estate sector more sustainable and efficient.
One area that continues to cause frustration is energy use in operation – why do so many buildings consume more energy than necessary?
This report seeks answers through seven in-depth interviews with professionals who know the industry from the inside. Their experiences offer insight into why energy-efficient operations often fall short – and what actually works in practice.

The goal of the KraftKur project is to identify and implement measures for energy efficiency in existing buildings, as well as to ensure that new buildings are developed with optimal energy efficiency from day one. The project aims to promote knowledge sharing and awareness about energy efficiency within the construction sector.
The entire value chain in the construction, civil engineering, and real estate sectors is invited to develop best practices for energy use in buildings, from planning and construction to the operational phase. This will be achieved practically by exploring ways to transform an already constructed building, establish sustainable operations, and make the building as energy-efficient as possible.
The KraftKur project is connected to a related project, Energy Mapping, which is being conducted at the Sweco building in Fantoft. This building will also be examined under KraftKur. Does this project inspire you? Contact project leader Kine Abbott Solberg for more information.
"The problem isn't the buildings from the '80s, it's the buildings from the 2000s."
The Energy Mapping Project is a follow-up initiative at Building Innovation. Sweco is leading the project, but our cluster gains valuable insights and the opportunity to learn alongside them. The project focuses on the Sweco building at Fantoft, with the goal of mapping the building's energy use and discovering how classic proptech can make green buildings even greener.
